about

Australian teen singer/songwriter Georgia Hoareau brings us her debut single ‘17’.

“The song talks about the changes and expectations you set for your teenage years” said Georgia, but it’s more than just that. Georgia takes us on a journey through the mind and emotions of a teenager navigating new freedoms and responsibilities that come with growing up.

It’s the first glimpse into her songwriting talents and enticing vocal ability. Georgia is influenced by other meaningful songwriters like; Amy Winehouse, Lizzy McAlpine, Rex Orange County, Lennon Stella, Missy Higgins, Gracie Abrams and Finneas.

Teaming up with Brisbane producer Joel Myles (Jack Bratt, Harry J Hart, Brooke Austen) at HeadAtlas / Hunting Ground Studios, the result is a surprisingly honest debut single for the 17-year-old.

The single has already gained attention, receiving glowing 4 star reviews and airplay on Triple J’s Unearthed radio and her songwriting recent placed her in the semi-finals for the nation-wide “ListenUp” Songwriting Prize in Sept 2021.

Watch for new tracks and her debut EP coming in 2022!

lyrics

'17' - Georgia Hoareau

Verse
I just turned 17
Isn’t that the age where every movie
And teenage story starts
I don’t feel 17
When every kid at school is sad
About to be the graduating class
Still don’t know who I want to be

Pre-chorus
Eyes open, I’m still hoping
I’ll get a sign
That says I’m doing just fine
And while these drunk teens are boring me
But then again, that’s just the way it is

Chorus
I say that I don’t really care
But every time my friends go out
I wish I was there
I wish I didn’t care what my parents thought
Like it or not, I’m getting older

Verse
I just turned 17
And my head is spinning wow
I finally found a boy who likes me back somehow
And now that I drive
I’m never home
But no one told me, it gets lonely driving on your own

Pre-chorus
Eyes open, I’m still hoping
I’ll get a sign
That says I’m doing just fine
And while these drunk teens are boring me
But then again, that’s just the way it is

Chorus
I say that I don’t really care
But every time my friends go out
I wish I was there
I wish I didn’t care what my parents thought
Like it or not, I’m getting older
Older, older

Chorus
It’s funny how I’m changing
Every where I look it feel like
Life is rearranging
Everything I once knew to fit a new design
Brand new eyes
That’s the beauty of aging
Aging, aging

Bridge
And I
Try to tell myself I’ll be fine
I get overwhelmed every time
Wondering if I’m doing it right

Oh and I
Keep telling myself I’ll be fine
Try not to get overwhelmed this time
Wondering if I’m doing it fine

Chorus
And it’s funny how I’m changing
Everywhere I look it feel like
Life is rearranging
Everything I once knew to fit a new design
Brand new eyes
That’s the beauty of aging
